If there’s one thing I never get tired of, it’s the rush of an EDM festival — the music, the people, and the energy all captivate me so much. That’s why I decided to put together my own list of the biggest and best EDM festivals in the USA, featuring the ones that have left me speechless and the ones still sitting high on my bucket list.
Electronic music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. From my first underground rave to massive mainstage moments surrounded by lights, lasers, and thousands of people moving as one — it’s always felt like home to me. Over the past decade, I’ve watched the scene evolve and grow into something massive, with festivals that are more like full-blown worlds of sound, art, and energy.
Of course, you’ve probably heard of the big names like EDC, Ultra, and Coachella—but trust me, there are some incredible events tucked all across the country that deserve just as much attention. These are my favorite EDM festivals and raves that truly capture what makes the scene so special.

Electric Daisy Carnival, better known as EDC Las Vegas, isn’t just the biggest electronic dance music festival in North America, it’s the crown jewel of the rave world. What began as a small warehouse party in Los Angeles back in 1997 has transformed into a larger-than-life celebration of music, art, and community that every raver should experience at least once.
I’ve been lucky enough to attend EDC three times—first in Los Angeles in 2011, then the debut Vegas edition in 2012, and again in 2014—and each one completely blew me away. There’s just nothing else like standing under the Electric Sky surrounded by lights, fireworks, and thousands of people moving to the same beat.
Insomniac always goes all out, creating a world that feels straight out of a dream—complete with carnival rides, mind-bending stage designs, and a community built on unity, love, and pure energy. For me, EDC isn’t just a festival—it’s a feeling I’ll never forget.
2) Ultra Music Festival

In the EDM industry, one could think that the ULTRA Music Festival is seeking global domination…because they have been throwing events in nearly every corner of the globe. From South Africa to South America, Thailand to Taipei, Singapore to Sydney, ULTRA has consistently proven it’s a key player in the music festival game! For over 20 years, ULTRA Music Festival has invited its guests to downtown Miami for a weekend of top-notch electronic tunes during Miami Music Week.
While I haven’t attended the event in Miami yet, I did get the chance to attend ULTRA Europe a couple of years ago and was absolutely blown away by the quality of production and overall experience! While ticket prices are notoriously expensive, when you purchase a ticket to ULTRA you’re in for a wild ride!

Last year I was fortunate to finally attend Electric Forest for myself, and it might just be my favorite festival in the world now! There’s simply no better feeling than wondering around in that forest at night and getting lost amongst all the stages, art, and random offerings.
The community that comes together is what truly makes Forest so unforgettable, and it’s simply one of the coolest venues with something to explore everywhere you look. Even you don’t like EDM, this is an absolute bucket-list experience that every raver will rave about for decades.
4) Portola Festival

Although it’s still relatively new, having just wrapped its third edition in 2024, Portola Festival has already cemented itself as one of the most exciting and forward-thinking music festivals in the U.S. Produced by Goldenvoice, the same team behind Coachella, it brings that same level of production and quality to the Bay Area.
Every September, Portola takes over Pier 80 in San Francisco for two unforgettable days of cutting-edge DJs, live electronic acts, and a crowd that truly lives for the music. The mix of underground sounds, big-name headliners, and immersive art installations makes it feel fresh, vibrant, and unlike anything else in California.
I was lucky enough to attend the inaugural edition in 2022, and it completely blew me away —the sound, the production, and that electric Bay Area energy were next level. I left already counting down the days until I could go back. I seriously can’t wait to see what Portola has in store for 2026!
5) Beyond Wonderland

“Embark on an adventure to the far side of the forest, exploring what exists Beyond Wonderland.”
Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, it offers a whimsical, immersive experience with elaborate stage designs, interactive art installations, and performers dressed as wild ravey characters.
The festival features a diverse lineup of renowned DJs and rising stars, covering genres like house, techno, trance, and dubstep. Known for its stunning visuals, light shows, and pyrotechnics, Beyond Wonderland creates a surreal, sensory-rich atmosphere. Held annually at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, typically in March, the event draws thousands of music lovers, many of whom dress in themed costumes. It’s a must-attend for fans of EDM and immersive festival experiences.
Insomniac Events are known for throwing some of the biggest and craziest raves in California, and Beyond Wonderland is definitely one you cannot miss! They always deliver a world-class line-up, beautiful stage production, and a loving PLUR filled atmosphere! Expect wild pyrotechnics, wild outfits, and pounding bass for a weekend you’ll never forget!
6) Groove Cruise Miami | EDM Festival Cruise

Groove Cruise is the OG music festival at sea, and will definitely be one of the best experiences of your life! I’ve now attended three different Groove Cruises, and it’s simply one of the best atmospheres I’ve found in the festival scene. There is something unexplainably magical that occurs when the GCFAM gets together, and it’s honestly one of my favorite festivals in the entire world. They always deliver stacked line-ups with a mix of EDM, House, Trance, and Techno, and deliver a wide variety of unique activities.

7) Bonnaroo Music Festival

The most positive place on this planet, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience, every time.
While it’s not strictly an EDM festival, Bonnaroo has always been my #1 dream festival to attend. There’s just something about the energy of The Farm, the all-night sets, and the mix of genres that makes it feel truly magical. Every story I’ve heard and every video I’ve seen just confirms it—I know I’d absolutely lose myself in the experience.
Each year, Bonnaroo hosts over 150 artists across more than 10 stages, running from sunset to sunrise, with camping that turns into its own world of creativity and community. “Roo life” is more than just sleeping under the stars—it’s sharing food with strangers, discovering your new favorite artist by accident, and dancing barefoot in the Tennessee grass.
Of course, 2025 brought its fair share of challenges, with heavy rain and partial cancellations that tested the spirit of Bonnaroovians everywhere. But if there’s one thing that defines this festival, it’s resilience—the community always bounces back stronger.
I can’t wait for the day I finally make it to The Farm myself. From everything I’ve seen, Bonnaroo isn’t just a festival—it’s a celebration of life itself.
8) HARD Summer Music Festival

HARD Summer is pure Southern California madness in the best way possible—two days of heat, heavy beats, and non-stop fun. It’s been a staple of the SoCal scene for over a decade, always delivering insane lineups, wild stage designs, and that unmistakable HARD energy.
I’ve gone a few times now, and it’s easily one of my favorite festivals. Dancing under the blazing sun with friends while bouncing between house, techno, trap, and hip-hop sets—there’s just nothing like it.
My history with HARD actually goes way back—my first massive rave was HARD Haunted Mansion in 2009, and it totally hooked me. Ever since, I’ve been all in on everything HARD Events throws, from Day of the Dead to Holy Ship.
If you’re into big vibes, stacked lineups, and unforgettable weekends, HARD Summer is one festival you can’t miss.
9) Lost Lands Festival

Lost Lands is the ultimate playground for bass lovers—a prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs, lasers, and earth-shaking drops. Curated by Excision and held every September in Legend Valley, Ohio, it’s a three-day explosion of sound, energy, and community that unites headbangers from all over the world.
I’ll admit—I’m not the biggest basshead myself, but even I can appreciate what makes Lost Lands so special. The production is insane, the energy is unmatched, and the sense of community is genuinely heartwarming. Everyone’s there for the same reason: to get lost in the music and have the time of their lives.
If you live for filthy drops and good vibes, Lost Lands absolutely deserves a spot on your bucket list. Just be ready to headbang until your neck gives out—dinosaurs included.
10) The Governor’s Ball Music Festival

There’s nothing quite like Governors Ball — New York’s own festival built by New Yorkers, for New Yorkers. It captures the city’s energy perfectly: bold, creative, and always evolving. With 60+ artists across four stages, Gov Ball brings together every genre imaginable, from indie and hip-hop to pop and of course, electronic dance music.
As an EDM lover, I’ve always appreciated how they mix massive dance acts with live performances—you can go from raving to relaxing under the skyline in a heartbeat. The crowd, the food, the atmosphere — it all feels so authentically New York.
If you’re looking for a festival that captures the city’s spirit while giving EDM fans plenty to love, Governors Ball is the one.
11) Lollapalooza Music Festival

Lollapalooza isn’t just a festival — it’s a Chicago summer ritual. With 8 stages and 170+ artists spanning every genre imaginable, it turns Grant Park into a massive playground of sound, energy, and skyline views.
What started back in 1991 as Perry Farrell’s small touring showcase has evolved into one of the world’s most iconic music experiences. And while it’s known for its incredible diversity, EDM fans like me still find plenty to love—from massive mainstage sets to surprise late-night parties that light up the city.
There’s something magical about dancing in the middle of downtown Chicago with Lake Michigan on one side and the skyline glowing on the other. Lolla isn’t just a festival — it’s the highlight of Chicago summer.
12) Beyond Wonderland PNW

Pacific Northwest’s Premier Electronic Music Festival

One of California’s biggest and most beloved EDM festivals is heading back to The Gorge Amphitheatre in 2026 — and it’s quickly become a must for Pacific Northwest ravers. After a few incredible years up north, Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge has solidified itself as one of the most scenic and unforgettable EDM experiences in the country.
If you’ve never been, The Gorge is pure magic — towering canyon views, sunsets over the Columbia River, and camping vibes that rival any festival out there. Add in Insomniac’s top-tier production, wild stage designs, and an all-star lineup, and you’ve got the perfect mix of nature and bass.
I live in Seattle and have had tons of friends make the trip out there — it always comes highly recommended. Whether you’re there for the music, the views, or the community, Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge is the kind of festival that stays with you long after the final drop.
13) Lights All Night Festival

Lights All Night is Texas’s longest-running EDM festival, and trust me—there’s no better way to ring in the New Year. Held every December in Dallas, this two-day celebration lights up the city with world-class DJs, massive production, and a crowd that knows how to party.
I personally attended a several years ago, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the booming bass and laser-filled stages to the wild energy of the crowd, it felt like the perfect mix of rave chaos and pure Texas charm. Whether you’re into house, dubstep, or trance, the lineup always delivers, and the visuals live up to the festival’s name—it truly is lights all night.
If you’re looking to close out the year with unforgettable vibes and a dance floor full of happy strangers, this is the one to hit in Texas.
14) Dreamstate Festival

Dreamstate Festival is every trance lover’s ultimate paradise — a euphoric journey that feels like stepping into another dimension entirely. From the moment you walk through the gates, you’re surrounded by beautiful, melodic energy that sweeps you away from the chaos of everyday life.
It’s not just about the lasers, visuals, or massive stage production (though those are world-class, as you’d expect from Insomniac) — it’s about the feeling. The unity. The shared emotion when a crowd of thousands closes their eyes and loses themselves in the same soaring melody.
I’ve been lucky enough to experience Dreamstate in California, and honestly, it’s unlike any other festival I’ve been to. It’s a gathering of pure love and passion for trance — from uplifting anthems to deep, dark progressive sets. You can tell that everyone there truly cares about the music. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just discovering the genre, Dreamstate is a spiritual experience that connects you to something deeper. If you’ve ever wanted to feel the true heartbeat of trance, this is where you’ll find it.
15) Global Dance Festival

Global Dance Festival is Colorado’s pride and joy — a vibrant celebration of electronic music, art, and pure summer energy set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. From carnival rides and wild art installations to the ever-popular Silent Disco, GDF has always been about exploration, community, and that unmistakable Mile High magic. It’s the kind of festival where you can dance until sunrise, meet amazing people, and feel completely alive under the Colorado sky.
I was pretty bummed when Global Dance Festival took a break in 2025 — it’s always been one of those cornerstone events that truly define the EDM scene in the region. But the good news? It’s making a huge comeback in 2026, and I couldn’t be more excited to see what’s in store. If past years are anything to go by, expect massive stage production, a killer lineup, and that unbeatable feeling of unity that makes GDF one of the most beloved festivals in the U.S.
16) Lightning In a Bottle

Lightning in a Bottle, or more commonly referred to as “LIB”, is one of the largest transformational music festivals in North America.
While it always boasts an incredible electronic line-up, there is much to more to this spiritually awakening festival. Many friends of mine have called it their favorite festival they’ve ever attended, and it will easily be a life-changing festival experience. Go to some workshops, do some yoga, take a refreshing dip in the lake, watch the sunrise, and party like there’s no tomorrow!

Arizona’s Largest EDM New Years Eve Festival
Decadence Arizona is another epic New Year’s Eve celebration for EDM lovers — a two-day blowout that brings together an incredible mix of artists, massive stage production, and nonstop energy to help you ring in the new year right. Held annually at the Phoenix Raceway, it’s part of the larger Decadence festival series, known for transforming the venue into a futuristic playground of lights, beats, and pure euphoria.
From house and techno to bass and trance, the lineup always delivers something for every kind of raver. I haven’t made it out to Decadence Arizona yet, but it’s high on my list — and if you’re on the West Coast and looking for an epic way to say goodbye to 2025, this is the place to be. Grab your crew, dress to shine, and get ready to dance your way into the new year surrounded by thousands of fellow music lovers.
18) Coachella Music & Arts Festival
When: April 10-12, and April 17-19, 2026

Coachella is one of the largest and most iconic music and art festivals in the world — a desert dreamscape that’s guaranteed to give you a weekend you’ll never forget. Every year, they deliver a mind-blowing lineup that spans every genre (with an always stacked EDM presence), paired with jaw-dropping stage production, world-class food and drink vendors, and an atmosphere that feels electric from sunrise to sunset.
As a California native, Coachella will forever hold a special place in my heart. It’s more than just a festival — it’s a rite of passage. From dancing under the palm trees at the Sahara Tent to catching sunsets behind the Ferris wheel, it’s truly something magical.
Sure, it’s gained a bit of a celebrity-and-fashion reputation over the years, but once you’re there, surrounded by incredible music and good vibes, that all fades away. I’ve attended twice (in 2014 and 2018), and both weekends were unforgettable — Coachella will always be one of my favorite festivals on the planet.
19) Day Trip Festival

Insomniac’s relatively new Southern California festival brand is bringing some of the biggest and best names in house music for two incredible days of fun! Celebrate the return of festival season at a brand new venue with delicious craft cocktails, gourmet food trucks, and iconic Day Trip fishbowls.
Known for its sun-soaked atmosphere and prime waterfront location, the festival features an impressive lineup of house, techno, and dance music DJs. With a focus on high-energy performances, stunning visuals, and a relaxed coastal vibe, Day Trip attracts electronic music fans looking to celebrate in a unique, laid-back setting. Its intimate scale allows for a more personal experience, making it a perfect summer event for those wanting to dance by the ocean and enjoy top-tier sounds.
Day Trip has also expanded up to Seattle, Washington the past couple years – and I suspect Day Trip will soon become another traveling festival across major cities in North America.
20) Time Warp USA

Time Warp USA is the American edition of the legendary German techno festival — renowned for its focus on underground house and techno. Held in New York City, often at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the festival showcases top-tier international DJs and emerging artists. Two dance floors, two nights, your favorite headliners and the intense Time Warp atmosphere you all know and love – we can’t wait to return. This iconic German festival has been making a huge splash and keeps organizing insane raves in Brooklyn each Fall.
If you’re in New York and love techno, this is a MUST experience! Trust me. It’s incredible.
21) CRSSD Festival

Since its inception in 2015, CRSSD Festival has become one of my absolute favorite California festivals — and honestly, one of the best reasons to visit San Diego. Set right on the waterfront at Waterfront Park, it perfectly blends sun-soaked SoCal vibes with world-class electronic music. From groovy daytime sets to sunset techno sessions with the ocean breeze rolling in, CRSSD captures everything I love about California’s festival scene.
What makes CRSSD so special is its balance — it’s stylish yet laid-back, filled with real music lovers rather than massive crowds chasing trends. With stunning views, great food and drinks, and an unbeatable atmosphere, it feels more like a seaside escape than a typical festival. As someone who’s been to plenty of California events, I can confidently say CRSSD is pure magic — the perfect mix of music, sunshine, and San Diego charm.
22) Dancefestopia

Dancefestopia Music Festival is an immersive camping and music experience that feels like stepping into your own personal paradise. Featuring over 200 artists, massive stage production, stunning art installations, and a welcoming community vibe, it’s a celebration of music, love, and connection.
Set deep in the rolling hills and surrounded by lush forest and shimmering lake views, Dancefestopia offers the perfect escape from the chaos of everyday life. Whether you’re dancing through the Emerald Forest, chilling by the pool, or floating on the Emerald Pond, every corner of the festival radiates positivity and adventure. It’s a place where everyone belongs — a true home away from home for dreamers, ravers, and lovers of life.
23) Movement Detroit

For any true techno lover, Movement Detroit isn’t just a festival — it’s a pilgrimage. Every Memorial Day weekend, thousands of fans from around the world descend on the birthplace of techno to pay homage to where it all began. As someone completely obsessed with this genre, attending Movement has always felt like the ultimate dream — the Mecca of techno.
What makes it so special is the authenticity. There’s no fluff, no gimmicks — just pure, underground sound vibrating through Hart Plaza and echoing across the Detroit River. The energy is unreal — raw, gritty, and deeply connected to the city’s industrial soul. You can feel the history of techno in every beat, surrounded by a crowd that lives and breathes this music. For me, Movement isn’t just another festival; it’s a spiritual experience, a reminder of why I fell in love with techno in the first place.
24) Project GLOW

Project GLOW is where East Coast dance music history comes to life — a two-day celebration right in the heart of Washington, D.C., that’s pure magic for any EDM fan. With 40+ artists across three immersive stages, it feels like a love letter to 20 years of rave culture on the Eastern Seaboard.
As someone who’s spent years chasing the best electronic events around the country, Project GLOW has quickly become one of those festivals I can’t stop hearing amazing things about.
The production is top-tier, the crowd is full of passionate dance music lovers, and the setting — right in the capital — gives it a special kind of energy you don’t find anywhere else. Whether you’re vibing at the Eternal Stage, getting lost in the Pulse, or exploring the Secret Garden, it’s a weekend that perfectly blends nostalgia and new-school sound. For anyone who loves electronic music, Project GLOW is a glowing beacon of unity, rhythm, and pure joy.
25) Desert Hearts Festival

After a couple difficult years finding the perfect venue for Desert Hearts Festival to continue to grow with the crew’s vision, Desert Hearts organized the best festival they’ve ever experienced and found a new home in Arizona!
Expect wild festival outfits and even wilder non-stop music at Desert Hearts Festival in 2026. I’ve attended many Desert Hearts parties and guarantee this is a festival that must be experienced to understand its magic!
