While it’s slowly becoming more popular, I’d argue it’s still a hidden gem on the south-western tip of the island, a surfers paradise of rolling clear blue jewel waves and temples on cliff faces
Uluwatu is one the first recommended stop for the perfect Bali vacation, “Island of the Gods” – a mix of intriguing landscapes, religion, history, and culture. Uluwatu offers the most famous wave in Bali. It sits on the hilly limestone peninsula, offers pristine beaches, and lush jungles, where you will be greeted by the smell of incense in the air and friendly locals.
What’s The Best Area To Stay In Bali, Uluwatu?
You should keep in mind, this magical region in Bali is rather large, and if you want to stay outside the main town, you will need a scooter to get around. Ideally, you would want to stay around the best beaches in the area: Dreamland, Bingin, Balagan, and Padang Padang Beaches. Here are some of the best areas for fantastic things to do in Uluwatu.
- Padang Padang – Padang Padang offers a bit of everything. It’s the go-to area in Uluwatu and has some of the most popular beaches, as well as a large selection of cafes and restaurants close-by.
- Bukit Uluwatu Bukit is well-known for its nightlife, shopping area and sights. It offers easy access to famous places such as Single Fin beach club, Ulu Cliff House, Bingin Beach Bali, and Thomas Beach.
Pecatu – has some of the most famous luxury resorts. It gives you easy access to amazing places such as Omnia Uluwatu Dayclub, Sundays Beach Club, and One Eight Club at The Edge. - Suluban – Suluban offers a lot of action in Uluwatu, and the Suluban beach is a favorite amongst surfers. Over 240,000 people annually visit Sulubanto surf and see its magical breaks.
- Ungasan – If you’re looking for beach clubs, Ungasan is the area you want to be in.
