Known as the capital of the South, and renowned for its Southern hospitality, Atlanta is a sprawling urban metropolis. It’s the largest city in the state of Georgia and offers an inviting blend of attractions that’ll suit any traveler.

Around half a century after its humble beginnings, Atlanta was almost entirely burnt to the ground during the American civil war. But it was soon rebuilt with a new lease on life, and has since flourished into the incredible city it is today. Playing a pivotal role at the forefront of the American civil rights movement along the way.

The Best Areas to Stay in an Atlanta Airbnb

Before getting into the Airbnbs, I wanted to offer a quick breakdown of the city’s best neighborhoods. These areas are all fantastic to explore and most are located fairly centrally, so they can easily be reached from one another.

  • Downtown – Laden with towering buildings, Downtown Atlanta is the heart of the city. It’s the central business district and home to most of Atlanta’s tourist attractions. The streets are walkable, transport is easy, and there’s no shortage of dining and entertainment venues. You’ll also find plenty of bars and clubs in Downtown Atlanta.
  • Midtown – Midtown offers the city experience with less hustle and bustle than Downtown. It’s an artistic, semi-residential neighborhood with some fantastic cultural establishments. Downtown is easily accessible from here using public transport and the area also borders on the wonderful Piedmont Park. Restaurants, bars, and clubs are all plentiful.
  • Inman Park – Located just east of Downtown, Inman Park is a hip neighborhood that’s dripping with bohemian charm. It’s a hotspot for hipster cafes, markets, vintage stores, and other indie establishments. You’ll also find street art, theatres, and some inviting nightlife options. A great place to experience the local culture with easy access to Downtown.
  • Old Fourth Ward – Foodies should aim to visit Old Fourth Ward during their stay. The once an industrial area is now home to some incredible eating establishments and markets. Expect trendy cafes, a healthy collection of museums, and an easy journey to Downtown.
  • Buckhead – A little further from Downtown Atlanta, Buckhead is an affluent area with high-class dining, drinking, and shopping. You’ll also find some historical and cultural attractions, including the enormous Atlanta History Center and its sprawling gardens. Downtown is about a 40-minutes on public transport from here.

Guest Review: “This is my favorite Airbnb I have ever stayed in! The location is unbeatable – close to Inman Park and the Beltline, right near Old Fourth Ward, and less than 15 minute drive to Howell Mill Road. The house itself is cozy, with really cute and interesting decor. We didn’t get to use the front and back porch because of the unusually cold and windy weather during our stay, but they were great for relaxing outside with lots of seating. Sj provides everything you would need for your stay, including coffee and toiletries. In addition, Sj is extremely accommodating and easy to communicate with. He checked on us several times, provided great recommendations, and was helpful when we had questions. We would love to stay here again!!

Guest Review: “Check in was very easy. The home is as it appears in the photos, cute and homey. It included all the amenities one could possible need. The master bedroom mattress didn’t suit my comfort level, but ok for a short stay. The composting toilet was interesting and easy to work, but not as comfortable to sit on as a regular toilet seat. The location is very close to the airport or other go-to ATL spots. Overall a pretty good stay.”
