20 Instagrams That Will Inspire You to Visit LAOS

Blog, Instagram, Laos, Travel Inspiration, Travel Photography

During my extended travels in South-East Asia, I absolutely fell in love with Laos.

It took me a really long time to get there, and I’m actually really upset with myself that I hadn’t visited earlier.

I honestly have no idea why I waited for so long, but now that I now — I’m always telling people about how amazing Laos is.

If you’re backpacking through South-East Asia, definitely check out my Laos Backpacking guide.  This is a great resource for your future travels.

I’m almost obsessed with Instagram — so check out these 20 posts that will definitely inspire you to visit Laos!

1 )  Kuang Si Waterfalls

Definitely one of the most instagrammed places in the country.  I’m sure you can understand why.

When I was backpacking through Laos I traveled from Don Det up to Luang Prabang. I had already seen some amazing waterfalls during my time in the country, but I knew the Kuang Si waterfalls were a must visit. This is for good reason. These cascading falls are absolutely beautiful. It was definitely an incredible place to take a swim and enjoy the scenery.

13 ) Kuang Si Falls

So damn breathtaking

View this post on Instagram

About 29 kilometers (18 miles) south of the Laos city of Luang Prabang sits a majestic, three-tiered wall of water called the Kuang Si falls. After cascading down the tiered 200-foot rock face, the water collects in a series of pools that are a popular draw for locals and tourists alike. The turquoise cascading pools, a common feature of travertine waterfalls, are open for swimming and are a popular subject for Instagramming visitors. 14 ) Just R-E-L-A-X

Don Det is easily the one of the chillest places in South-East Asia.

View this post on Instagram

When I started my travels through Laos, I actually flew into Vientiane which is right in the middle of the country. I had no plans to visit the south of Laos at all due to timing issues. But the day I got there and discussed plans with other backpackers, I changed my mind and booked a 13 hour sleeper bus down to Don Det and the 4000 Islands. I'm so glad I did, because it was actually one of the most relaxing places I've ever visited. This was taken during the sunset my first night there. I spent 5 days there meeting great people, watching friends, and drinking quite a bit of Beer Laos! Can't wait to get visit again someday…

While exploring the Bolaven Plateau, you can see 7 different waterfalls in one day!

Rented a motorcycle and explored all over the Bolaven Plateau near Pakse, Laos. Such an incredible day. This was my favorite waterfall of the 5 we went to. Pretty intense hike to get to, but well worth it.

    Hi Jones,

Phenomenal images! I’m floored by all of them. We rushed way too quickly thru Laos – rare for us as we slow travel it – and missed so much in this small but beautiful country. I do recall the towering mountains surrounding us as we bused from the capital to Luang Prubang and VV; it was epic. Some of the prettiest scenery ever, that I’ve seen. I also remember seeing an internet cafe in a remote area. And yes, people were on Facebook, chatting away.

Thanks Ryan! Yeah, Laos is unreal! I felt kinda rushed through the country only having around 2.5 weeks there. Next time I’m backpacking around South-East Asia I’m definitely going to be spending a lot more time in Laos. I think it’s one of the most underrated travel destinations in the world. : )

I visited Laos a couple of years ago and loved it! The scenery in some parts is stunning – there is great rock climbing too.

Ah I never got to do any climbing, but I’m definitely keen to go back for another trip in Laos! I had the absolute best time there! :-) Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
