Pulau Kapas: The Most Beautiful Island in Malaysia. [ Photo Essay ]

Blog, Featured, Malaysia, Travel Photography

Thanks to some of my expat friends in Kuala Lumpur, I was recommended to take a little trip over to a small island called Pulau Kapas.  (They are not too happy with me to be blogging about it…but I can’t help myself).  Sorry, I’m not sorry.

When I got to the island, I was completely speechless.  Only one word came to mind…

Paradise.

I couldn’t put my camera down.  I took hundreds of photos during my 4-day stay on Kapas Island, and I think they came out really great!  So without further ado…

Welcome to Pulau Kapas:

One of my favorite aspects of the island was the ease of walking from one side to the other.  There were these beautiful golden staircases that led you around the island.

Pulau Kapas also brings some incredible views during afternoon and sunset….

Thank you Pulau Kapas for being the most beautiful and relaxing island in Malaysia.  I’ll be back soon!

Hi , can I ask which the best hotel/hostel is for snorkeling off the beach?

To be honest, it doesn’t really matter! The island is so small you can walk anywhere to snorkel. I personally snorkeled in front of every beach, and they were all fantastic. You could also do the snorkeling tour around the island which is great! And head over to Gem Island! :-)

with backpacker’s post like this, it is definitely going to be crowded and polluted in the future so thanx a lot :P

Haha you really think this post is going to make a big difference? Pulau Kapas is in all the Lonely Planet books, so it’s not really “off the beaten path” in Malaysia. And it’s going to take a LONG time before this beautiful island paradise becomes overcrowded. Take a look at the Perhentian Islands. They don’t even have an ATM there either, and it’s a much more popular destination.

Hey there Dave, I was wondering whether you could provide me some info as to how you took those pretty pictures of the beach and what not. For example, what camera did you use and whether it’s set to a special setting? I would love to visit Kapas one day and be able to take such great photos too. Thanks!

Hey Alex, no problem. I use a Nikon D3300 with the standard set lens 18-55mm. The mode I shoot in varies, but most of the time it’s in Manual or Landscape. I also edit my photos a little in Adobe Lightroom. :-) Whenever you get to Kapas, you’ll defintiely love it. I fell in love with that island. So stunning.

Hi Dave! What about the period between end of January and April to visit that islands?? Too much rain ???

Yeah, I don’t think you can go there during that time of the year. Pretty much everything closes down from what I’ve heard!

I agree. If you’ve only just discovered Kapas you don’t notice the environmental damage that’s already been done. There’s a reason why there’s a Kapas Conservation Club. Maybe you should have made more about this?
