Pantai Cenang Beach Days

Blog, Langkawi, Malaysia

The hotpsot area of Langkawi, Pantai Cenang, is an amazing beach town with an impressive long stretch of white sand which makes it the perfect place to spend some time.  There’s a wide variety of activities during the day from parasailing, jetkskiing, beach volleyball, banana boats, etc.  Every day during the past week in Langkawi, our group would just chill and relax on this incredible beach at least at one point of the day.

Here’s what I recommend doing: buy a cooler or a “chilly bin”, like my friends from Australia and New Zealand call it, and fill it up with drinks.  Langkawi is a tax-free island, and drinks are extremely cheap compared to the rest of the Malaysia.  You can get cans of beer for 2 Ringit (approximately $0.60 USD), and have a blast day drinking.  Make sure you buy some ice as well to keep the beers cold.  Another tip would be to buy some liquor, cups, and mixers…and you can host your own pre-game on the beach until you’re ready to hit the bars (or stay there all night like we did one night).  This was extremely fun, but we also had a group of 7-10 people.  If you’re just a small group, you’ll definitely want to invite some travelers from the hostel along for the party.

Happy B-Day Sascha!

Oh…and make sure you watch the sunset here every night when you can.  Our first night in Langkawi we were rewarded with one of the best sunsets I’ve seen since my time back in south-east Asia!
