Flow takes place in Suvilahti, a former power plant in the heart of Helsinki. The setting gives the festival an industrial cinematic backdrop, with towering chimneys and brick structures wrapping around the stages and the festival grounds feeling like a city-within-a-city.

As with other iconic European urban festivals like Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, Flow is easily accessible by public transport. You can spend your morning by the waterfront or exploring neighborhood cafés, then drift into Flow to make the most of the festival’s schedule and then dance the evening away. When the sun sets the grounds glow with vibrant colors and an exciting energy, putting you on the same frequency as the 30,000+ daily attendees.

Lineup

The 2026 program dances across genres without forcing a theme, yet seems to weave a cohesive thread to connect the demographic-agnostic crowd it draws year after year. Indie heavyweights Florence + The Machine bring a full-scale, emotional live show. PinkPantheress, fresh off her smash-hit album Fancy That, provides a sound capable of going viral but one that is also grounded in real club culture. Swedish pop princess Zara Larsson has been in the game for years but is still making waves and turning heads, most recently as the opener on Tate McRae’s North American tour. “Coke-rap” royalty Pusha T and No Malice, a duo whose influence on hip hop runs deep, hit the stage as Clipse. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds return with the presence and gravity that only comes from years of touring and pioneering an ever-evolving sound. Baltimore’s Turnstile bring an energetic and uplifting 80s-era hardcore sound, and it will be interesting to see how their notoriously raucous crowd reacts to Flow’s no stage-dive policy. Lambrini Girls push a sharp, punk-forward stance that never feels forced. And yes, there’s plenty of dance music! Electronic vibes are central to the weekend, with KETTAMA, Honey Dijon, Oklou and Italian icons Nu Genea (live) each carrying their own world of sound from house to disco and beyond.

Ethos

Over its 20+ years in existence, Flow has crafted a reputation for taking its responsibilities seriously and staying true to its morals. It’s easy to spot an event greenwashing or whitewashing itself, especially in this age of hyper-fast information, but Flow’s focus on sustainability and inclusion feels woven into the fabric or the festival itself rather than added at the last moment.

Decisions around energy use, materials and food are made with an understanding of their impact. The lineup reflects a range of voices and experiences. The artists come from diverse backgrounds, and the presence of Finnish talent reminds you that the local scene is not only present but also thriving.

Neighbors are taken into consideration too, as noise levels, traffic and footfall are studied each year in order to keep the relationship with the surrounding area strong. These efforts doesn’t interrupt the fun. Instead, they create a sense that the festival belongs to the city and respects it! The communal aspect, even with 90,000 visitors over three days, adds a little more sparkle to what makes Flow so special.

Atmosphere

All of this really culminates into an overarching atmosphere of carefree fun, with undertones of community-strengthening culture avant-garde artistry.

The Suvilahti power plant as the festival setting gives the event a certain grit. Every path, chill-out, and stage has character and the lighting and stage design are immersive. You might find yourself pressed into a packed dancefloor at midnight, then wandering through a quiet corner that feels almost meditative. The crowd helps shape the mood, and the crowd itself is shaped by the lineup and festival ethos alike. Locals mix with tourists, and the result is a steady flow of conversations, shared discoveries and small moments that attendees will take home and treasure.

By the time you reach the final night, the festival feels like a temporary neighborhood. Relaxed, curious and full of movement.

So, how about it?? Will you be attending Flow Festival 2026 in Helsinki? Be sure to share this articles with your friends and give them all a reason to go with the the Flow!
