Chasing Waterfalls in Langkawi

Blog, Langkawi, Malaysia

“Don’t go Chasing Wateralls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to”

Sorry TLC, you must have never been to Langkawi.  Checking out a couple of waterfalls in Langkawi is probably my favorite day during my time there.  I had heard about these waterfalls the last time I was there, but could not see them because it was the dry season.  So I was definitely stoked to see some new sights my second time in Langkawi.

The first stop we made was to the Seven Wells Waterfalls.  It’s about a 30 minute drive from Pantai Cenang, and a very scenic drive as well.  It’s a decent walk up to the top where the swimming area is, but is definitely worth it.  On  a clear day, you can see the ocean in the distance, as well as watch the cable cars head to the top.  The water is cool and refreshing, and there is even natural waterslides which are fun to slide down.  (Just be careful, apparently a German tourist a month ago died because she went past the boundaries)

Still chasing waterfalls…

The second waterfall and I think the more beautiful one is the Terjun Temurun, and is about a 25 minute drive from the Seven Wells.  This waterfall also has a great swimming area to relax in, and you can actually climb up the rocks to jump off of.  It was really fun to spend an hour or so here, and watch the locals climb the waterfall as if it were nothing.

After checking out these two waterfalls, you could either head to the beaches nearby, or maybe to Oriental village for some food and jump on the cable car.  But if you’re planning a trip to Langkawi, you definitely need to check out these waterfalls.  Rent a moto, explore, and ignore TLC’s popular hit song.  DO GO CHASING WATERFALLS!

What’s the best waterfall you’ve ever been to?
